TICKLE Dorothy Colleen Tickle, 82, passed away peacefully to be with the Lord Saturday April 27, 2013. She was born in Parsons, Kansas on August 22, 1930, the daughter of Pete and Mary Cooper, deceased. Her brothers were Eldon and Jack, deceased. Her family moved to Portland, Oregon in 1942 where she later attended Jefferson High School and met her loving surviving husband of 61 years, William (Bill) Tickle. She attended Oregon State University and was a member of Pi Beta Phi. Dorothy and Bill were married in the First Presbyterian Church in Portland on June 21, 1952. They moved many times as Dorothy followed Bill s career promotions in the trucking industry. Dorothy concentrated on mothering four wonderful children. They now have nine grandsons, a great grandson and a great granddaughter. They moved to Ponte Vedra Beach in 1983. Dorothy was a long time active member of Palms Presbyterian Church and Sawgrass Country Club and co-founder of the Preston Trail Garden Club in Sawgrass. She will be remembered by all for her ever present beautiful smile. She and Bill loved to travel. They loved visiting their children and grandchildren nearby in northern Florida and farther away in Boston, Montana and Colorado. Dorothy leaves behind her daughters Linda Tickle Degnen and her husband Chris, Sandra Pike and her husband Glen, Debbie Smith and her husband Phil, and son Mike Tickle; grandchildren Jason and his wife Jill, Kris and his wife Rebecca, Zach Pike, Ross and Cory Degnen, Mic, Garret and Drew Smith, and Jack Tickle; as well as great grandchildren Ashton Pike and Chloe Pike. Celebration of Dorothy s Life will be held at Palms Presbyterian Church, 3410 S. Third St. Jacksonville Beach, at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 4th. A reception will immediately follow the service in Patten Hall at the church.
