Dorothy Golden

Dorothy Rita Golden passed away on February 18, 2018 in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL. She was born October 24, 1924 in New York, NY to Lillian Marie Zoccola, a young immigrant from the alpine village of Valdosta, Italy, and Martin Matthew Gill of Chelsea, New York. Dorothy was married in 1951 to US Navy LT (J.G.) Robert Henry Golden. They were residents of Huntington, NY and Ponte Vedra Beach FL.  She and her husband were avid golfers and longtime members of Huntington Country Club. Having been snowbirds for years, she moved to Ponte Vedra Beach in 2010 to be closer to her daughter and was an active member of the Palm Valley Senior Center.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her loving husband Robert and her brother US Navy Ensign Martin T. Gill.  Devoted mother of Vivian (Len) Kellermann of Jacksonville, FL and Gene Golden of Huntington NY. Cherished grandmother of Daniel and Peter Kellermann, and Patrick, Grace, and Conor Golden.

Visitation will be held in the Chapel of Quinn-Shalz Family Funeral Home in Jacksonville Beach on Sunday Feb. 25, 2018 from 4-6PM.

A Funeral Mass will be held for Dorothy at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 545 A1A N, Ponte Vedra Beach, on Monday, February 26, 2018 at 11AM. A graveside memorial will be held in Huntington, NY at a later date.
