Dorothy Anna Gajo, always the most beautiful smile and sparkle in her eyes passed away in her home surrounded by the love of her family. She was born in El Centro, California. Dorothy resided in Neptune Beach, Florida for the last 62 years. Dorothy was a devoted and wonderful daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Without question she loved each one unconditionally.
Dorothy loved God, family, and always put them before herself. She saw good in people with everyone she met and was kind and encouraging. She was the epitome of love and delighted in the simplest things of life, especially dancing, music, flower arranging and gardening. Her heart was full of joy and the sound of laughter echoed wherever she was. She was a friend to all.
Dorothy attended St. Paul’s Catholic Church. She always told her children and grandchildren to always pray and trust in God and was a very positive influence to everyone she met. Dorothy was married to Isidro Ramos Gajo, Sr., for 50 years who passed in 1998. After moving to Florida in 1962 Dorothy and Isidro managed Maxine’s Kon Tiki Naval Locker Clubs and mom stayed busy as a hairdresser.
Dorothy was predeceased by her husband Isidro and her infant daughter Angela Christine, her parents Antonio and Anita Hechanova, her sister Theresa Viray and brother Tony Hechanova. Dorothy was so dearly loved and admired. She is survived by, her sister Adeline Loyd, five children: Isidro (Wanda) Gajo, Jr., Lorie (Ron) Langdon, Valerie (Van) Russell, Susie Faith (Sandi Bishop) Gajo and Arcadio Joseph Gajo; three grandchildren: Angela Bevis, Eric Russell, and Allison Russell; her two great grandchildren: Brooke Bevis and Lauren Bevis and several nieces and nephews. She will be deeply missed and live forever in all of our hearts.
Mom will always be remembered by saying “Vaya Con Dios!” – “Go With God!”
