Doris (Dori) Eggen Bissell passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 18 in Jacksonville, Florida with her loved ones by her side. Dori was born on July 12, 1927 in Gowanda, New York, to John and Lena Eggen and was a graduate of Gowanda High School and Cornell University. Dori worked for twelve years with National Airlines; as a stewardess based out of Miami and as a stewardess supervisor in Jacksonville where she met Windsor Bissell, her husband of 59 years. After her career, Dori lived in Atlantic Beach her entire married life as a homemaker and mother. Dori is remembered as always being upbeat and smiling while possessing an engaging wit. Dori loved jazz and classical music, and was fond of playing the piano, singing, and dancing. She enjoyed tennis, bridge, puzzle-solving, traveling, and visited many countries around the world. Dori particularly enjoyed visiting Erlenbach im Simmental Switzerland; home of her great-grand parents. Doris is survived by her loving husband Windsor, daughter Bettina (Charlotte, NC) and son Paul (Kim) (Corpus Christi, TX), brother John Eggen (Eden, NY), sister Ruth Creamer (Ridgefield, CT) and granddaughters Windsor and Christine. A family celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
