Donald Ashley Reek

Donald Ashley Reek went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 10, 2023. He was 89 years old. Donald (Don) was born in Pittsburg, PA to Ashley and Emma (Ulrich) Reek. He moved to Jonesboro, Indiana in grade school. He graduated high school at Mississinewa High School in Gas City, Indiana.

After high school, Don served with honor in the US Air Force in the Korean War as an air traffic controller. After the war he worked his way through college in three years working three jobs. He graduated with a BBA from Ball State University. He later earned his MBA in Organizational Development from Pepperdine University.

Don fell in love with and married Diana Dale in 1958. They raised three daughters together. Don built a career in Human Resources working for GTE for 30 years. He was part of the executive team that started up Sprint Corporation, and he later became a partner at Deloitte. After retirement he continued to consult businesses and mentor people.

Don accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior later in life and served at Palms Presbyterian Church in various roles.

Don was a consummate learner and great listener. He continually pursued improving himself and inspired those around him. He loved cars, motorcycles and boats and kept busy with hobbies in golf, fishing, woodworking, and photography.

We celebrate Don and the way he lived his life. His strong work ethic and integrity earned him admiration and respect. He enjoyed life to the fullest and always had a solution to whatever speed bump life put in front of him. His faith, intelligence, sense of humor, generosity and love for his family will be missed forever.

Don is survived by his loving family, his wife of 64 years, Diana, daughters Tracey Leverett, Terri Briggs (Jay), Denise Reek (Eric), grandchildren Logan Leverett, Caroline Leverett Thornton (Greg), Carley Briggs, great-grandchild Emma Thornton, and sister Gerry Guenther (Firman). We will all miss him dearly.

A service to celebrate Don's life will be held at Palms Presbyterian Church in Jacksonville Beach, FL Thursday, June 29, 2023, at 11am. Reception to follow at Sawgrass Golf Club, Ponte Vedra Beach, FL.
