Dolores MacLaren, 87, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2018. Dolores was born June 11, 1930 in Philadelphia, PA to Caroline and Joseph Economy. She grew up in the Philadelphia area and raised her family in Baltimore, MD where she lived for approximately 40 years. For the past 16 years she has lived in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, near her daughter.
Dolores was a loving mother and grandmother. She had an endless amount of energy and she was always there to help in good times and challenging times. She was a proud mother who always supported her children in all of their endeavors. One of her favorite activities was making Christmas cookies with her grandchildren.
Dolores had a great sense of adventure and loved the outdoors. She participated in many activities including, hiking, tennis, and she especially loved to ski. Over 30 years she skied many places in the U.S., Canada, and Europe with her family and friends.
She was a devoted Catholic and she was very involved in activities at her church Our Lady Star of the Sea in Ponte Vedra Beach, where she had many good friends. She volunteered at the St. Vincent de Paul Society working at the thrift store and visiting people in their homes to lend a helping hand.
Dolores was preceded in death by her sister Eleanor, her brothers Joseph, Richard, and Thomas Economy. She is survived by her brother Robert Economy, daughters Renate MacLaren and Pamela Evans, sons, John, Stuart, David, Robert and James, 15 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 AM, Friday, March 23rd at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL.
