Diana Ong

d. January 1, 2016

ONG Diana Gee Ong, 75, of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, passed away at home on January 1, 2016, from natural causes. Born on September 13, 1940 in New York City, she and her family relocated to Florida in 1993. She is survived by her spouse, James Ong; children, Richard Ong and Susan Chiang (Kai); and grandchildren, Kaitlin and Brian Chiang. Diana was an accomplished painter, sculptor, printmaker and computer artist. Her works were published on the cover and inside over 1,000 books and magazines in 20 countries. She studied at the National Academy School of Fine Art in New York City for 14 years, earning numerous awards. She was a computer artist at SuperStock, Inc. in Jacksonville, FL in the 1990's. From 1995 to 2000, she served as a trustee for the Jacksonville Museum of Contemporary Art. She was an avid collector of art and aesthetic objects. Diana loved to fly fish for trout and especially for Atlantic salmon. During annual trips to Iceland and visits to Norway, she caught more than 300 salmon, an amazing achievement requiring great patience and skill. She also loved dogs, always with a pampered pet by her side. And she was a beautiful writer, always writing from the heart: It's a dog's life I do not measure time, It measures me. I hope I add up. Death has a voice ..a cry. The journey is short, the cutoff sharp. It's a dog's life. - Diana Ong, October, 1995. A private service will be held.
