Dennis Michael McCarthy

Dennis Michael McCarthy, 72, passed peacefully surrounded by loved ones on February 18, 2024. Born June 18,1951 in Chincoteague, Virginia and raised as a Poway, Ca native where he met his wife, Karen.

 Colonel McCarthy entered the United States Air Force through ROTC at San Diego State. He began his 30-year career as a helicopter pilot, transferred to fixed wing to fly the C-141, helped launch the C-17 Project and held various positions of leadership through Air Mobility Command and the Pentagon, teacher at Air War College, and Wing Commander at Ramstein AFB Germany. 

 Dennis and his wife Karen moved to Atlantic Beach, FL in 2012 to enjoy retirement near their grandkids. 

 Dennis is a devoted husband of 50 years, survived by his wife Karen and children Jen (Chris), Brian (Haze), Shannon (Andy) and granddaughters Maile, Lanea, and Emerson. 

 Private Services will be held for families.
