There are people who walk this earth with a quiet kind of power. Not the kind that shouts, not the kind that demands, but the kind that holds you steady when the world starts to shake. Dedra Gale Torelli was one of those people.
With heavy hearts, we announce her unexpected passing on Friday, March 21, 2025. She was born on October 13, 1944, in Bluefield, West Virginia, to the late Charles Butt and Virginia Cooper. She was also lovingly raised by her stepfather, Edwin J. Davenport, who became the father she needed and cherished throughout her life.
She was a devoted daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend—someone who touched countless lives with her kindness and unwavering dedication to those she loved.
After graduating from Englewood High School, Dedra met her late husband, Robert F. Torelli, and together they built a life in Jacksonville Beach. She never stopped learning—earning her degree from Jacksonville University in 1995. And she never stopped serving—dedicating 24 years to Christ Episcopal Church, moving through that space with grace, devotion, and care.
Above all, Dedra’s greatest joy was her family. She was our rock—our strength, our guide, our constant. Her loss leaves an immeasurable void, and we are heartbroken.
She is survived by her three children: Robert Torelli (Janet), Michael Torelli (Jennifer), and Krissy Torelli (Jason); her cherished grandchildren, Ashlyn Lanier, Cooper Lanier, and Isabella Torelli; her loving siblings, Beverly Godfrey, Debbie Hyatt, and Patty Loftis, David Butt; and her dear nephews, Derek Jones, Cory Hyatt, and Tate Loftis.
A celebration of Dedra’s life will be held on Friday, April 4, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Christ Episcopal Church, 400 San Juan Drive, Ponte Vedra Beach. In lieu of flowers, she requested that donations be made to Christ Episcopal Church (https://ccpvb.org/give/) in her honor.
Her kindness, wisdom, and boundless love will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
