David Morenus, III

David C. Morenus III, age 65, of Atlantic Beach, passed away Friday, December 2, 2016.  David was born in Watertown, NY to the late David C. Morenus, Jr. and Minerva (Calwell) Morenus.  He graduated from Belleville Academy in 1970 and enlisted in the U.S. Navy on November 11, 1970, serving 21 years.  He retired in 1991.

David was a devoted husband and loving father.  He leaves behind his wife of 42 years, Leslie (Cooper) Morenus, son, David IV (Christina) and daughter, Jessica Morenus, his golden retriever, Abigail, and cat, Percy.  He also leaves his sister, Jane Stoodley (Bill), his brothers Gary Morenus (Babe), and Rod Morenus (Cathy).  He was preceded in death by his brother John Aureli (Kathy) and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

A gathering for family and friends will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Wed., December 7, 2016 in Quinn-Shalz Funeral Home of Jacksonville Beach. Inurnment will be held at 12:30 p.m., Friday, December 16, 2016 in Jacksonville National Cemetery.

His family wishes to thank the Jacksonville Rescue Unit and the staff at Baptist Beaches Hospital.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Jacksonville Humane Society.
