David Lasher

David L. Lasher, III, 84, passed away August 26, 2017 at Baptist Hospital. He was born on October 29, 1932 in Baltimore, MD.  He grew up in Asheville, NC, and retired in 1986. David graduated from Wofford College, in Spartanburg, SC, and majored in History. After graduating, he proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy, as a Naval Officer, and later as a Special Investigator in the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS).  His work took him around the world, including Cuba, England, Japan, Diego Garcia, the Philippines, and Spain. He married Jean Lasher in London, England.

David loved performing traditional country music, playing his guitar and singing. He was a member of musical performing arts groups in his Nocatee community in Ponte Vedra. He also loved travelling.

David is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Jean; loving father to daughters Cyndi (Ted) and Cheryl (Dave); grandchildren, Andy, Melanie, and Riley; brother, Robert; sister, Betsy (Glenn); nephews, David (Jessica), and Ryan; nieces, Elisa and Amanda.

A Memorial Service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 2nd in the Chapel of Quinn- Shalz Funeral Home, 3600 Third Street South, Jacksonville Beach, Florida.
