Clyde Vernon McIntyre Jr., 75, of Jacksonville, passed away March 10, 2023 at his residence surrounded by his family after battling cancer for over three years. Born in Baltimore, Md. on October 5, 1947, Clyde was the son of the late Clyde Sr. and Virginia (Cline) McIntyre. He grew up and lived in Maryland before moving to Jacksonville, Florida in 1992.
Clyde is survived by his wife of 55 years, Linda (Hayden); daughter, Amy (Doug) Devilbiss of Westminster, Md.; son, Jason of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; granddaughter, Courtney of Westminster, Md.; sisters, Sheila (Jim) Parks of Manassas, Va., and Sandra (Lou) Marrero of Tampa, Fl.; and brother, Michael of New Market, Md.; along with many cherished nieces and nephews.
Clyde was a proud graduate of Baltimore Polytechnic Institute, class of 1965 and went on to earn a Master's degree from the University of Baltimore. He went to work for Chessie System in their engineering department and worked his way up to the Marketing Department of CSX Transportation, until his retirement in June of 2009.
One of Clyde’s greatest loves was the rebuilding of his 1941 Wurlitzer Jukebox and collecting many 78 records to play on it. Family and friends would love to request songs to have him play over and over on it. After retirement he and his wife, Linda, enjoyed traveling to Europe and spending time with their granddaughter, Courtney.
A celebration of life will be held to honor Clyde at a later date with his dear friends and family. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation on his behalf to the Jacksonville Humane Society (https://jaxhumane.networkforgood.com/projects/123722-memorial). We all know he secretly loved his adopted cat, Smores, and his granddogs, Penelope and Charlie.
