Christine Desmarais

Christine Anne Desmarais, 66, passed away unexpectedly on August 23rd, 2016.  She was born and raised in Woonsocket, RI.  She graduated with a teaching degree from Rhode Island College.  She moved many times during her husband’s Navy career until settling in Jacksonville, Florida. She lived the last years of her life in Jacksonville Beach.

She is survived by her daughters Lynne Desmarais Jones of Greenville, SC and Sharon Marie Desmarais (Koppenhafer) of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, her grandchildren Connor Jones, Sophia Koppenhafer, and Owen Koppenhafer, and siblings Mary Chabot, Patrice Kleber, Carol Theroux, and Edwin Kilcline III. She is preceded in death by her husband of 38 years George Desmarais and grandson Jacob Alexander Jones.

Christine was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother.  She was an active member of Neptune Baptist Church.  She was known for her adoration of her grandchildren and commitment to her church Life Group.  She had a green thumb and enjoyed tending to her many plants.  She had a gentle spirit and will be missed by all.

A memorial service to honor her life will be held at Neptune Baptist Church 407 3rd St., Neptune Beach, FL, 32266 on Saturday September 17th at 10am with a reception to follow at the church.  In lieu of flowers the family asks that you send donations to Beaches Emergency Assistance Ministry (BEAM) at jaxbeam.org.
