Obituary for Charles T. Musante
As written by him, Charles Thomas Musante, age 73, passed away on May 16, 2023, in Jacksonville Beach, FL, where he had resided for 37 years. He was born February 10, 1950, in Warren, PA to the late Charles William and Elizabeth Gangi Musante.
As a youth, Chuck was an altar boy at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Warren, and was a paperboy for several years with the former Warren Times Mirror. He was a 1968 graduate of Warren Area High School and received a bachelor's degree in sociology from Gannon University in Erie, PA.
Chuck served six years in the US Navy, achieving the rank of Lieutenant. He served aboard the frigate USS Rathburne and was navigator on the guided missile cruiser USS Worden. He served in the western Pacific and Indian Ocean theaters of operation and was home ported in Hawaii for a year and Japan for three years. Chuck received commendation for his efforts helping to evacuate and relocate many Vietnamese refugees in “Operation New Life” immediately after the fall of Saigon in 1975.
Most recently, Chuck had been employed for 29 years in the food and beverage department of the Ponte Vedra Inn & Club in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL.
Chuck sincerely hoped that he left a positive piece of himself with many in his travels through life.
Chuck was preceded in death by his brother Gene C. Musante of Carver, MA. He is survived by his sister Rita Louise Musante of Hartford City, IN, and his brother Mark W. Musante of Edinboro, PA.
A visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 20 in Quinn-Shalz Family Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel, with Reverend William Kelly as Celebrant.

A visitation will be held from 10:00 – 11:00 am on Saturday, August 26th at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 600 Pennsylvania Ave. West, Warren, PA, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery Mausoleum. A luncheon will then be served at St. Joseph Church.
Chuck’s family gratefully acknowledges his neighbors, Joe and Thelma Griego, for the invaluable assistance they have provided during the last several months.
