HARRISON Cecil D. Harrison Sr., 89, born Oct. 4th, 1923 in Washington County, Georgia passed into eternal life with his Lord on March 16th, 2013 in Jacksonville Fla. Cecil was a retired U.S. Postal worker. He loved his job and had many, many friends on his route which he talked about frequently to his family. Mr. Harrison proudly served his country during WWII in the U.S. Navy primarily as a radioman flying on PBY s also known as The Catalina. It was during his time serving as a Shore Patrolman in Jacksonville Beach with the Navy that he met the love of his life, Louise Jenkins. They were married for 63 years before she passed. After his retirement with the Postal Service he moved back to the farm where he was born raising cows and living the life he had longed for. Cecil Harrison loved his Georgia so. Mr. Harrison was a member and deacon of Ocean Park Baptist Church in Jacksonville Beach. It was apparent to all that knew him that he had the heart of a servant. Mr. Harrison was preceded in death by his parents, Joe & Judy Harrison, sisters Jeanette Fordham and Helen Hall. Mr. Harrison is survived by 3 daughters, Margaret and husband Jerry Wade, Annette Shelton, and Jeanette and husband Dan Menges, and son Dugg and wife Shelia Harrison. Mr. Harrison was blessed with 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Dan Menges, Michael Danner, Bryan Wade, Nathan Harrison, Ira Harrison, Lloyd Walker, and Carey Stringer. The visitation will be today Mon. March 18th from 6-8 p.m. in Quinn-Shalz Funeral Home, 3600 3rd St. S. Jacksonville Beach. The Funeral Service will be Tues.
