Carolyn Whitely

Carolyn Whitely 77, passed away June 23, 2016. She was born October 13, 1938 in Cleveland, Ohio to Michael and Emma Spehar. She graduated from Collinwood High School in 1957. She married Joseph Whitely, her husband of 57 years, on June 13, 1959. They raised 5 children in North Ridgeville, OH before retiring to Jacksonville, FL in 1998.

Carolyn worked in the grocery industry until her retirement. After moving to Florida she volunteered at Baptist Beaches Hospital in the labor and delivery rocking babies who needed extra attention. More than anything she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Carolyn is survived by her husband, Joe; children, Joseph (Susan), Colleen, Michael (Linda), Duane (Michelle) and William; 12 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; sister, Marilyn Ospelt; brother, Michael Spehar; and her dear lifelong friend Beverly (Joe) Koerner. She was preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Emma Spehar and sister Paulette.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday June 29th at 3PM at St Paul’s Catholic Church, Jacksonville Beach, with Reverend William Kelly as Celebrant. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to: The Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517 Topeka, KS  66675.
