Capt. Laurence Gionet, Jr.

Retired US Navy Capt. Laurence J. Gionet, Jr. of Leesburg, FL passed away on October 26, 2016 at the age of 73. He was born in Worcester, Mass, but considered Jacksonville Beach, Florida his hometown. He graduated from Fletcher High School and Catawba College. He navigated a wonderful 31 year career in the United States Navy. He enjoyed playing golf and tennis. He was team captain of his high school baseball team and continued playing in college. He enjoyed spending time with his family. He is predeceased by his first wife Phyllis R Gionet. He is survived by his second wife Patricia S Gionet, sister and brother-in-law Janice and Bill Richardson of Neptune Beach, FL, son and daughter-in-law Larry and Judy Gionet of Orlando, FL, son Michael Gionet and his partner Jonathan Murray of Hermitage, TN, and step-daughters Lynn Summerill of Malden, MA and Amy S. Allen of Penns Grove, NJ. A Graveside Service will be on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at 10 am at H. Warren Smith Cemetery in Jacksonville Beach, FL.
