Calvin Tuggle

September 15, 1932 — March 20, 2018

Calvin Gene Tuggle, 85, passed away on March 20, 2018 after a short illness.  He was born September 15, 1932 in New Smyrna Beach, FL. He grew up in Jacksonville, FL and retired to the beaches area in 1993.

Cal attended Robert E. Lee High School in Jacksonville, The University of Florida and served in the Army during the Korean War. He worked for Southern Bell and was the District Plant Manager responsible for telecommunications for the Apollo launches 8 through 11. He worked for AT&T for 30 years ending up as the head of AT&T Communications in the Pacific, Asia, Middle East and Africa. Upon his retirement at AT&T they moved to Roswell, Georgia where he finished his career owning a telecom company. While in Ponte Vedra, Cal was a Realtor along with his wife, Kathleen for Ponte Vedra Club Realty and was a long- time volunteer at the TPC Stadium Course and Headquarters. Cal's favorite things to do were to spend time with his family, sail, golf, paint and travel.

Cal is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Kathleen; daughters Mary Anne (John) Payne, Lynn (Albert) Wilkinson and Jennifer (Sven) Kollbach; grandchildren Jessica, Andrew, Alex, Kathleen, Georgia, and Timothy; and great grandchildren William and Henry.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 am, Saturday, April 7, 2018 in the Chapel of Quinn-Shalz Funeral Home, Jacksonville Beach. Interment will be at a later date.
