Byron Jerome-Lee McClendon, Jr 18, passed away January 13, 2023. He was born September 25, 2004 in Jacksonville, Florida.
Byron graduated from Florida Youth Challenge Academy as a Salutatorian and was in the delayed entry program of the Navy, with a deployment date of February 27th. He was very proud of these two accomplishments. Byron loved life and in particular his family and friends, in particular in new baby nephew he lovingly called “El Nino”, and of course his most awesome dog in the world, “Bella”. He was looking forward to new challenges, however, he achieved his wings early and is now fishing with Peter in the heavenly realm, as he had recently accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior.
Byron is survived by his mother, Faye Clark; his father, Byron Jerome McClendon, Sr; his sister Ziyanna McClendon; his nephew Juakin “el nino” Martinez; his half-brother, D’Andrea Clark; his half-sister, Taniya McDaniel; his grandmother, Marie Dove and grandfather, Harvey Dove; his grandmother, Vickie Renegar; ; his grandfather, Carl Cason (Virginia); his Aunt Deborah Royal and Uncle Dan Royal (who he currently lived with); his Uncle Robert McClendon; and Cousins “Madyson and Arianna” (who he grew up with); His cousins Cherie and Darashea Williams (his Mentor) and Jamie Renegar; his Aunt Lynn and Uncle John and Cousins Corey and Kyle (The Renegars); his Aunt Lahoma and Uncle Jeff and Cousins Austin, Olivia and his fellow skateboarder Fletcher (the Renegars); his Aunt Laurie and Uncle Jim Williamson, cousins Jacob and Hannah (the Williamsons) and a host of other beloved Cousins and Aunt and Uncles that he dearly loved. As well as the best friends a young man could ever ask for. He was predeceased by his great grandmothers Peggy McClendon and Peggy Brazeale and his great grandfather Grady Renegar.
The funeral will be held at 7:00 PM, Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at St. Justin Martyr Orthodox Church, with Father Theodore Pisarchuk at 12460 Old St. Augustine Road, Jacksonville, Florida 32258. Private viewing for the family will be at 6:00 and for friends will be at 6:30 PM. Reception to follow. The burial will be immediate family and close friends Thursday morning at 11:00 AM at St. Justin Martyr Orthodox Church.
