Buryldine “Dean” Decker went home to her Heavenly Father Saturday, November 5, 2016. She was born September 2, 1941 in Ft. White, Florida where she grew up and graduated from Ft. White High School. She was a longtime resident of Jacksonville and Ponte Vedra Beach, FL. Dean was a devoted member of Ponte Vedra United Methodist Church and volunteered many years with the Beaches Emergency Assistance Ministry (BEAM). Dean retired from Boatwright Land Surveyors in the early 90s and then spent many years traveling the country in their motorhome with her beloved husband and other family members and friends. She couldn't wait to get through the gates to be with loved one’s past.
Dean was preceded in death by her parents Cleveland B and Eunice Snelgrove, her devoted husband David Decker and her daughter Brenda Harwell. She leaves to cherish her memory a loving family: her children Marty Petrie, Debbie Fields and William (Julie) Porter; grandchildren, Candice Clancy, Grady Dorman, Vaugh Rein, James Fields, Cameron Porter, Alexandra Porter and Zachariah Harwell, her many brothers, sisters, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
A Celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, November 12th in the Chapel of Quinn-Shalz at 3600 3rd Street South in Jacksonville Beach, FL with Rev. Greg Doss as officiant.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to BEAM in honor and memory of Dean Decker.
