BOOTH Bonnie Druse Booth, native of Wisconsin, died on December 14, 2015. She was pre-deceased by her husband of 51 years, Edward M. Booth, Sr. She is survived by her daughter, Sharon B. Middleton; son, Edward M. Booth, Jr. (Bridget); grandsons, James Whitelaw Middleton II, Christian Edward Middleton and Edward Palmer Booth. Bonnie graduated from Landon High School, attended the University of Florida and received her Bachelors and Masters degrees from the University of North Florida. After working as a Medical Technologist, she began her volunteer career as a Grey Lady at Duval Medical Center. She was an enthusiastic Garden Club Member, serving as President of San Jose Garden Club, a state certified flower show judge, and later became a Master Gardener. Bonnie loved her sorority, Delta Delta Delta, and was president of their Jacksonville Alumni Chapter and founder of the Tri Delta Chapter at Jacksonville University. As a long time member of St John's Episcopal Cathedral, she served on the Sanctuary Guild and was elected as the first woman on the Vestry and served as Junior Warden. After her retirement as a Mental Health Counselor and Social Worker, she became involved with the Jacksonville Public Library system serving as President of the Friends of the Beaches Branch Library and President of the Library Board of Trustees. During her tenure, the Jacksonville library system expanded substantially under the Better Jacksonville Plan. She was on the boards of Jacksonville Episcopal High School, Cathedral Foundation, Daniel Memorial and the Beaches Historical Society. She also served the State of Florida on the Judicial Qualifications Commission for many years. Bonnie loved to run in local road races enjoying the River Run numerous times in addition to participating in many local triathlons and marathons. Recently, she worked at the Beaches Emergency Assistance Ministry (BEAM) and loved taking classes at her old alma mater, UNF, taking classes in the Osher Life Long Learning Institute. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday January 9th at 3 p.m. at St John's Episcopal Cathedral in downtown Jacksonville with reception to follow. She requested that in lieu of flowers, donations could be made to her favorite charities.
