Bessie Viola Halter

Bessie Viola Halter, 79, passed away June 10, 2023. She was born June 23, 1943 to the late Willie and Orene White. She married the love of her life, David Allen Halter in 1962 . Due to David’s career in the United States Navy, they moved to various states before permanently making Jacksonville their home in 1980.

Bessie was a member of Kernan Blvd. Baptist Church where she participated in the Women’s Bible Study Group when she was able. Her hobbies included: reading recipes, bird watching and nature. More than anything she loved studying her Bible and spending time with her large family.

Bessie is survived by her children, David Q. Halter, his spouse Tracie Halter of Bailey Colorado, Dawn M. Halter, Lisa Morales, and Kelly McCallahan of Jacksonville, Florida; grandchildren, David Jordon Halter, Meghan Weight, Samantha Bloxhm, Tyler Shaw Seale, and Erica Marie Garcia; great grandchildren, Kaleb Halter, Ethan Halter, Emma Halter, Haven Weight, Sierra Vargas, Sophie Garcia, Oliver Garcia, and Carson Seale; her sister, Delilah Stephens of Lyons, Georgia; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 38 years, David Halter; and parents, Willie and Orene White.

A Graveside Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, June 23, 2023 in Chapel Hills Cemetery, 850 St Johns Bluff Rd N, Jacksonville, FL.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the National Kidney Foundation in her memory.
