Bennie E. Baskin, 93, departed this earthly life at 9:10 p.m. Friday, Dec. 30, 2016. He was born Oct. 5, 1923, in Banks, Alabama, the son of Lee Roy and Mammie Baskin.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He came to Kokomo in 1948 after graduating from Tuskegee University and retired from Haynes International after 33 years of service. He was owner of Ben’s Auto Sales on East Markland for 25 years and was a member of Wayman Chapel AME for over 60 years and sang in the Male Chorus and served on the Usher Board. He was also a member of the Sportsmen Club. He was a faith-filled man who had a deep personal relationship with Jesus Christ throughout his life, II Timothy 4-7.
Burial is in Jacksonville National Cemetery.
