Barbara Jean Reilly Wimbush, 78, passed away peacefully at home Friday, May 14, 2021 in Fishers, IN after a short battle with breast cancer. Barbara was born on July 14, 1942 in Montclair, NJ and was raised in Harrison, NJ. She later moved to Toms River, NJ to raise her family. She retired from nursing to travel and spend time with family in Indiana and later in Ponte Vedra Beach Florida.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Wimbush, her father and mother, Luke and Jean Reilly, her brother William “Bill” Reilly, and her niece Margaret Lee Reilly. Surviving are her children, Robert “Bobby” Wimbush of Carmel, IN, Diane and her husband James Vuotto of Fishers, IN, Kenneth Wimbush of Ponte Vedra, FL, four beautiful granddaughters; Gina, Gabrielle, Kiera, and Leah, a favorite sister-in-law, Barbara Reilly and a nephew Will (Liz) Reilly. She had many cousins she called her friends and many friends she considered her family.
She was a graduate of St Dominic’s Academy in Jersey City and a nursing school graduate of Ocean County College. She loved traveling, reading, games, and trivia. Forever she will be remembered for her commitment to serve others. Friends, family, or the community, she was always first to offer her help. Being a mom, grandmother, nurse and a life member of the East Dover First Aid Squad were her greatest accomplishments. Her final act of service was in donating her body to Indiana University School of Medicine. It was her desire to continue to serve the health profession she loved so much and to continue to help others.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held in the chapel at Quinn-Shalz Funeral Home in Jacksonville Beach on Saturday, June 5, 2021 at 2:00 p.m.
Memorial donations may be made to her niece Maggie’s scholarship fund. This scholarship was very important to her.
