Barbara J. Hardwick Bradford, passed away after a brief illness, at her home of 10 years, Cypress Village, Jacksonville, Florida on July 1, 2017. She was 89 years young, born on June 25, 1928.
Barbara became a resident of Jacksonville in the late 1950's, residing in Avondale, Ortega and Ponte Vedra. Barbara integrated into the Jacksonville Community serving on the Boards of The Children's Museum, the 'Bootstrap' drive for Jacksonville Public School System, the Jacksonville Symphony Guild, Volunteers of America-Jacksonville, County Parental Homes of Jacksonville, Unwed Mothers -Florence Crittendon- of Jacksonville, V.P. Cancer Crusades Drive of Jacksonville, and fund raising efforts for the endowment of the Jacksonville Zoological Society...The Jacksonville Zoo where she acquired the alias of "Head Chimp".
Barbara is survived by 4 daughters: Toyie Groff Frost, Anita Hardwick-Cheary (Brian), Bailey Ann Hardwick, and Barbara Jean Hardwick; 2 grandchildren: Amanda Groff Kucera (Paul) and Adam S. Groff (Nikki); 3 Step-grandchildren: Kelly Cheary, Craig Cheary (Megan) and Stacey Cheary.
Barbara loved as she lived, with style, grace, wisdom and purpose.
R.I.P. Mom....the struggle is over.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date to be determined. Donations may be made to: Community Hospice of Jacksonville or Cypress Village Employee Scholarship Fund.
