Arturo Pascual Confiado Jr., 80, of Neptune Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully on June 23, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born on February 4, 1944, in Marikina, Rizal, Philippines to Arturo Dison Confiado Sr. and Aurea Pascual Confiado, his life was a testament to resilience, dedication, and unwavering love.
At age 17, Arturo joined the U.S. Navy, serving with distinction for seven years in the Vietnam War. His naval career would go on to span two decades and all seven continents. It was marked by loyalty and courage, and his service exemplified his commitment to his adopted country and the principles of freedom and peace.
After retiring from the Navy, he pursued higher education earning engineering degrees—a remarkable achievement that reflected his determination to better himself and his family. As an engineer for Jacksonville Port Authority, he contributed significantly to various projects, bringing the same discipline and precision to his new profession that had defined his military career.
Arturo’s generosity knew no bounds. He successfully petitioned for his parents and several of his siblings to join him in the United States, even sending them to college giving them better lives in their new home. This selfless act was a cornerstone of his legacy, fostering the growth of his extended family in America.
An exceptional cook, Arturo was renowned for his culinary prowess delighting family and friends with his extraordinary dishes. His kitchen was the heart of countless gatherings, filled with laughter, stories, and the irresistible aromas of his beloved Filipino cuisine, as well as his adored American dishes.
A devout Catholic, Arturo’s faith guided him throughout his life. His commitment to the church and his family was evident in his daily acts of service and the love he showed to all who knew him. His faith was his anchor, providing strength and solace to himself and his family.
Arturo leaves behind his devoted wife, Rosario, their children and their spouses (Arturo III & Amanda, Joseph & Valerie, Jericho & Sunnie, Zaccheus & Laura, Mario & Heather, Raquel & Chris, Emmanuel, and Daniel), 16 grandchildren (Nikki and husband, Chris, E, Kai, Arturo IV (Coby), Zorah, Bella, Gabriel, Noah, Jude, Felicity, Elijah, Elise, Phoebe, Huxley, Eden, and Hazel), as well as three great grandchildren (Colton, Amelia, and Eli). He is also survived by his siblings and their spouses (Angelina, Arcangel & Milette, Agnes & Cesar, Gigi & Ramon, Arnaldo & Mai, and Angelico & Becca). His legacy of love, dedication, and service will be cherished by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
A funeral Mass will be held on July 2 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Jacksonville Beach at 11:30 A.M., followed by interment at Jacksonville National Cemetery.
Arturo, a sailor, a scholar, a chef, a man of faith, and above all, a beloved nee (husband), doddy (father), lolo (grandfather), big lolo (great-grandfather), father-in-law, kuya (brother), brother-in-law, and uncle. May his soul, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
