Anne Schaffer

May 28, 1942 — August 23, 2016

Anne Leigh Schaffer, 74, of St. Johns, Florida passed away on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 due to complications from cardiovascular disease.  She was born on May 28, 1942 in Richmond, Virginia to Murrill and Anna Howe.  She spent much of her childhood overseas in Turkey, Greece and Switzerland.  On her return to the U.S., she lived in Virginia, the Carolinas, and Georgia before settling in Northeast Florida where she resided for 48 years.  She used her gift of gab in the clerical, sales and non-profit fundraising fields.  After retiring, she focused on exuberantly decorating her home as well as on spoiling her grandkids and her dogs.  She was known for purple, her signature color, and for her enduring beauty.
Four children survive her:  Michelle Copley (Charleston, SC), Joseph Copley (Columbia, SC), Jennifer Whitley (Jacksonville, FL) and Sara Martin (Jacksonville, FL).  Ben Whitley, Ashley Ellinor, Hunter Whitley, Noah Whitley and Hannah Whitley, all from Jacksonville, are her beloved grandkids. Her siblings include Norton Howe (Richmond, VA), Kathy Howe (Livingston, MT) and Tina Entwistle (Lower Gwynedd, PA).  Her three dogs, Lovie, Pappy and Alfie also miss her dearly.  She is predeceased by her husband, John Schaffer, and her parents.
The memorial service will take place at Quinn-Shalz Family Funeral Home, 3600 3rd Street South, Jacksonville Beach, Florida 32250, on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at 11:00 am.
