With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Ann Boyd Saalfield, a devoted mother of four and cherished grandmother of six. Ann passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on May 2, 2024.
Born on January 15, 1942, in Toledo, Ohio, Ann moved to Jacksonville, FL 56 years ago where she first gave birth to the oldest of her four children. During her journey, Ann touched the lives of many with her kindness, generosity, and unwavering love, which was especially on full display for all of her beloved grandchildren, whom she especially held near and dear to her heart. As a mother, she dedicated her life to nurturing and supporting her children, always putting their needs above her own. Her home was always a decorated haven of warmth and love, where laughter echoed, memories were made, and where pictures of her children, grandchildren and friends abounded on every wall and every table.
Beyond her role as a mother and grandmother, Ann was well known for her “vivacious personality,” deep Catholic faith, photography, love of tennis and exercising, compassionate heart, infatuation with the beach, and bottomless spirit of fun. She was a member of Jacksonville’s Junior League, and was very involved in the American Heart Association throughout the years. Ann touched the lives of all who knew her, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and passion for her children, grandchildren and whom all she touched.
Though she may no longer be with us in person, the memories we shared and the love she gave will forever remain in our hearts. Ann will be deeply missed.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Community Hospice and Palliative Care in honor of Ann Boyd Saalfield.
A Family Celebration of Ann’s Life will be held on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. in Quinn-Shalz Family Funeral Home. Ann will then be moved to the columbarium at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Ponte Vedra Beach. May Ann rest in peace, knowing she was deeply loved and will never be forgotten.
