Alphonso Sylvester Williams was born on August 31, 1959, in Jacksonville, FL to the Late Charlie Williams, Jr. and Doris Williams. He attended Jacksonville Beach Elementary School #144, Fletcher Jr. High, and graduated Fletcher Senior High School. Alphonso was an avid basketball and baseball player. He was employed at the Homestead Restaurant, Jacksonville Beach, FL for many years. He could make the best creamed peas and biscuits. Alphonso shifted gears and became a truck driver for Anheuser-Busch. Also, he was employed at Freeman’s Lawn Service for several years.
He played a guitar somewhat and thought that he was the best guitar player in Atlantic Beach. He was known to sing the non-traditional “Birthday Song” for everyone’s birthday; upon completion of the song he would always say: “This is Al Williams signing off.”
Alphonso was a faithful member of Roberts Mt. Pisgah African Methodist Episcopal Church. He was preceded in death by his brothers: Julius Williams, Troy Williams Sr., Edward Williams.
He leaves to mourn his passing, children: Tora Bean (Ricardo) of Jacksonville, FL, Shanieka Moore (Davie) of Jacksonville, FL, Ryan Cole (Nina) of Tacoma, WA, Brittney Brown (Brandon Sr.) of Bloomberg, PA; grandchildren: Aubri & Averi Bean, Lamari Gordon, Dylan Thomas, Rayna & Cali Cole, Brandon Brown, Jr.; brothers: Charlie Williams III and Lorenzo Williams Sr.; sisters: Naomi Morgan, Joyce Freeman, Doris Johnson, Bessie Williams and Daneri Belvin; brothers-in-law: Haywood Freeman Sr., Johnnie Johnson Sr. and Tracy Belvin; sister-in-law: Plessia Williams; sister-in-love: Ann Williams; special friend: Georgia Whitfield along with a host of sorrowing cousins, nieces, grandnieces, great-great nieces, nephews, grandnephews, great-great-nephews and friends.
His Funeral Service will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 16, 2022 in the Chapel of Quinn-Shalz Funeral Home with burial to follow at Beaches Memorial Park in Atlantic Beach, Florida.
