Alois "Louie" Cvek

Alois “Louie” Cvek, born June 27, 1970, in Dačice, Czech Republic, passed away on Thursday, September 5th, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, family devotion and an enthusiasm for living that touched everyone who knew him.

Louie emigrated to the United States in the mid-1990s, where he built a successful business, buying and selling large trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment. His entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to his work were matched only by his love for his family and passions outside of business.

Survived by his beloved wife of 15 years, Dasa, and their two sons, Ben and Adam, Louie was a devoted husband and father who cherished every moment spent with his family. He is also survived by his mother Marie Cvek and brother Miroslav Cvek as well as a large extended family in the Czech Republic, with whom he maintained close ties.

Louie had a profound love for outdoor activities, often spending weekends hiking and mushroom picking with his family. He took great joy in teaching his boys to skate and play hockey, and he himself played in a local hockey league here in Jacksonville. Beyond the rink, he enjoyed playing tennis, cooking perfect steaks, and savoring a good pilsner beer. Louie will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, his friends and his love for life’s simple pleasures.

A Memorial Service will be held to honor Louie's life and legacy at Quinn-Shalz Family Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 17th at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Louie's memory to wavesofgray.org – The MD Anderson organization for brain tumor research here in Jacksonville.

Louie’s spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. May he rest in peace.
