Alice Brock

March 7, 1928 — November 21, 2016

On November 21, 2016, Alice Lannon Brock succumbed peacefully at the age of 88 after battling a prolonged illness. Alice was born March 7, 1928 in Brooklyn, NY, the daughter of Thomas R. and Gisela Lannon. She is preceded in death by her true love, her husband of 65 years William J. Brock; her son, David; and granddaughter, Caroline. She is survived by her children: Bill, Jim, Mary, John, Paul, Diane, Dan, Katie, Bob, Susie, Carole and Patti; grandchildren: Kevin, David, Patrick, Sarah, Brian, Christina, Sara, Jon, Steve, Michael, Zack, Jason, Eric, Kelly, Sam and William; and great-grandchildren: Alissa, Michael, Carl and Shaun.

Alice was a timeless beauty who cherished her vocation as a wife and mother. She was the foundation upon which the family was protected, sustained and nurtured. She was a pillar of strength, a model and guide for all of the family. As a mother of 13, she had an intimate sense of each child’s individual traits, talents, and value. She was classy and sassy, with a sparkle in her Irish blue eyes and a salty sense of humor. Her million dollar red lips and Shalimar perfume were her trademarks. That’s mommy, “you betcha!”

Strong willed, she endured adversity because of her unwavering faith in the Lord. Her faith fostered a sense of service to the community as well as her family. Her innate graciousness and elegance radiated to others even into advanced age.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at 11:30 am at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Jacksonville Beach, with burial following at Ponte Vedra Valley Cemetery. Family and friends will gather for a reception following the burial at the Family Life Center at St. Paul’s, 435 First Avenue North, Jacksonville Beach, FL 32250.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Haven Hospice, 8301 Cypress Plaza Drive, Suite 119, Jacksonville, FL 32256.
