Albert V. Fortunato, Jr. was born February 13th, 1947, in Jacksonville, FL. He passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his wife and children on October 6th, 2022.
Al lived his entire life in Jacksonville. After graduating from Forrest High School, he had a long career as a Master Jeweler working alongside his father at A.V. Fortunato and Son’s Jewelers until he retired in 1996. Al was an avid golfer, loved to work in his yard, loved entertaining friends and family with a multitude of stories. He was a loving husband, father, Papa, and friend. Al never met a stranger and made a memorable impact on anyone he met.
Al is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Deborah; son, Albert (Melanie); daughters, Michele (Mitch) Meyer and Melissa (Cory) Strahler; grandchildren, Daniel, Michael (Savannah) and Lorena Marie Meyer (Seth Ringer-fiancé); and his great-granddaughters, Ariana and Harper Meyer. He was preceded in death by his father, Albert V. Fortunato Sr., mother, Mary Elizabeth (Wilder) Fortunato, and his beloved Rottweiler, Nyah Fortunato.
His visitation will be from 6:00-7:00 p.m., followed by a service at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 11, 2022, in the Chapel of Quinn-Shalz Family Funeral Home.
