Mrs. Patricia “Pat” Borno was born in Brooklyn, New York on January 6, 1940 to Joe and Kitty Mooney. She passed away after an eleven month valiant fight with lung cancer on November 19, 2017 at the age of 77. Pat cherished her youth growing up in the Big Apple and Brooklyn. She was an only child surrounded by many cousins and relatives. She loved sports and was a member of the Rainbow Girls. After high school she worked on Wall Street before joining the US Navy and served as a WAVE. It was during this time that she met the love of her life, Louis “Mike” Borno, Jr. They married in 1959 and shared 58 wonderful loving years together. They moved many times throughout Mike’s Navy career and both children, a son Captain L.M. “Murph” Borno III, (USN Ret.) and daughter, Tricia Borno (Travis) LCSW were born in Puerto Rico. Pat is also survived by her beloved grandchildren whom all now reside in Orlando, FL. Pat worked for Watson Realty for 26 years retiring in 2009. She was a proud member of St. Paul’s By-the-Sea Episcopal Church and was active in many ministries including Vestry, Altar Guild, Eucharist minister, Hand Bell Choir and Verger. In 2005 Pat happily became a “Sassy Tapper” (Seniors at the Seashore Staying Young) and tapped her way around Jacksonville with a great troop of ladies. In her final days, she had said that she was so blessed to have been loved her whole life by God, her parents, Mike, children, grandchildren and friends. She felt she had so much to be thankful for.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 9, 2017 at St. Paul’s By-the-Sea Episcopal Church of Jacksonville Beach, with a reception following.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Paul’s By-the-Sea Episcopal Church, “Tree of Life” program or Community Hospice of NE Florida.
